Matthew Lawson, MD, FAANS, is board-certified in neurological surgery, with advanced training in endovascular neurosurgery and experience across cerebrovascular, cranial, general neurosurgery, trauma, spine, and peripheral nerve care.
Dr. Lawson graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 2000 with a degree in biochemical sciences. He received his medical degree cum laude from the University of Florida in 2004 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Neurosurgical and endovascular training
During neurosurgical residency at the University of Florida, Dr. Lawson completed an 18-month dedicated fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery. This training combined open neurosurgical principles with minimally invasive catheter-based techniques for disorders such as brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid disease, and acute stroke.
Following residency, he remained at the University of Florida as a Clinical Lecturer in Neurosurgery before entering practice in Tallahassee.
